Roles and Responsibilities
1. Provide primary care for BMT inpatients, oncology inpatients on NP service, and hematology service on NP service:
- Assess patient’s status repeatedly as clinically indicated, including transfer to ICU if necessary
- Review all labs and imaging results, and treat appropriately. This may include the start of antibiotics or other critical therapies, on 4 East or in the ICU, in consultation with the ICU medical staff
- Seek nighttime consultation of ICU or surgical services, as well as consultation of other subspecialists as indicated.
2.Admissions from ER at night for BMT patients.
3.Transfers to ICU at night for BMT patients.
4.Back up is BMT Attending and Oncology Attending.
There are a lot of novel transplant therapies being offered such as haploidentical BMT, CAR T cells, and other cellular therapies making this an exciting opportunity. Getting involved with clinical research projects or QA efforts if interested will be possible.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements: Completion of pediatric residency is required. Graduation from a heme/onc fellowship is desired but not essential. Individual must be comfortable in managing patients in the acute care setting. Prior heme/onc experience preferable but not required.
